William J. Flueckiger

William J. “Bill” Flueckiger, 91, of Berne passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at his son’s residence in Berne. He was born on September 23, 1927 in Adams County to Elmer and Ida (Kauffman) Flueckiger. He was married on June 22, 1952 to Carol J. Faus.

He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a faithful member of Grace Bible Church in Berne. He was co-owner of Flick’s Body Shop in Berne for 30 years. He had worked for the city of Berne for 10 years and part time at Moser Motors. He had a passion for working on cars; restoring cars, body work and painting cars. He did it all. He enjoyed riding his scooter all over the county. He enjoyed riding and competing with his horses and playing hockey in his younger years. He loved his family, and they were always number one.

He survived by his son, Kent (Kim) Flueckiger of Berne; brother, Howard (Eleanor) Flueckiger of Berne; sister, Shirley (Bill) Emschwiller of Arizona; three grandchildren, Landon Flueckiger; Ashley Flueckiger;  and Brandon Shockome; and one great-grandchild, Kamali Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on August 7, 2001; brother, Valier Flueckiger; and sister, Virginia Mattax.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29 and one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 30 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Gaskill. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #468 of Berne.
