Willard Lehman

Willard “Bill” Stanley Lehman, 89, of Jackson, Michigan was promoted unexpectedly into God’s glory Saturday, October 17, 2020. He was born December 13, 1930, in Berne to Eli and Lorena Lehman. He was married August 15, 1953, to Evelyn “Lyn” Voss.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University (BJU) and did graduate work at BJU and Michigan State University. He served as minister of music and youth in Gary, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Pontiac, Michigan. After moving to Jackson, Michigan, he served as music director at Bethel Baptist Church for 23 years while also teaching music, language arts and life science at Northwest Junior High School for 25 years.
After retiring, he and his wife were volunteers with the SOWER Ministry for 18 years providing the grunt work at Christian camps, missionary training centers, etc. so the project could be freed up to do the ministry work. One of the highlights of their lives was a missionary project in Ecuador where they were privileged to be flown into the interior of the Amazon jungle to help paint a school house.
He is survived by four children, Rick Lehman; Dale Lehman; Tonya Crittenden; and Kurt Lehman; two brothers, Luther (Linda) Lehman; and Charles (Louise) Lehman, both of Berne; sister, Phyllis Schweizer of Sterling, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kerry Lehman who awaited him in Heaven since April; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
His memorial service was held Sunday, November 1 at 3 p.m. at Bethel Church, 1691 Springport Road, Jackson, Michigan.
