Waneta G. Habegger

Waneta G. Habegger, 86, of Berne passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Bluffton Regional Hospital. She was born on August 4, 1931 in Adams County to Noah and Mollie (Lehman) Neuenschwander. She was married on September 3, 1950 to Charles Habegger.

She graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, she worked in the family businesses, Habegger Builders Supply and Swiss Haus of Camping. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping. Her love of music impacted everything she did, and she was active in choral ensembles and playing the organ and piano at First Mennonite Church. She was involved in the Gideon Auxiliary Ministry, having served on the Indiana Gideon State Cabinet.

She is survived by her husband of Berne; daughter, Audrey (Jerry) Sumrall of Garland, Texas; three sons, Alan (Cindy) Habegger; and Brian (Denise) Habegger, both of Berne; and Neil (Meg) Habegger of Portland; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Orval, Loris, and Vernon Neuenschwander; and sister, Marie Lehman.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Monday, June 25 at First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating are Pastor Jerry Flueckiger, Pastor Jeff Linthicum, and Pastor James Schwartz. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
