Walter Houseman

Walter Mark “Walt” Houseman, 78, of Fort Wayne passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was born Sep. 14, 1945, in Wadena, Canada, to Mark and Isobel (Hurlburt) Houseman.
He and his family moved to the United States at a young age eventually settling in Indiana. He played football and later graduated in 1964 from Berne-French High School, which is now South Adams High School. He went on to enlist and proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. He would go on to serve as a security officer at Pendleton Prison. Relying on the training he received in the Marine Corps, he was an avid survivalist, and he enjoyed collecting firearms.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Lynn (Tim Allen) Douglas and their children, Jenny Lynn (Rogelio Ramirez), Joshua Allen (Jerrica) Douglas and their grandchildren, Korbin Allen Woodrow Douglas, Kameron Daniel Douglas and Kenslie Raelyn Douglas; his son, Matthew Mark (Marla Ann) Martens and their children, Cole Joseph Keller, Katie Lynn Martens, Faith Amelia Jo Martens and Brody Matthew Martens; his daughter, Amy Renae (Tim) Woodworth and their children: Amber Woodworth, Al`annah Woodworth and Ian Woodworth; two sisters, Margaret (Houseman) and Ed Bunsold; and Josephine (Houseman) and Marvin Blocher; one niece; four nephews; and 16 grandnieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 18 from 2-3 p.m. at Countryside Christian Church, 1212 E. 100 S., Winchester followed by military honors presented by the United States Marine Corps and concluding with a memorial service. Officiating will be Rev. Tim Douglas, son-in-law to Walt, and Pastor Melissa Klienschmidt.
