Victoria Beachey

Victoria “Vickie” Beachey, 64, of Berne passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne from complications of COVID-19. She was born September 25, 1956, in South Bend to Donald and Jean (Goble) Marshall. She was married April 17, 1982, to William “Bill” Beachey.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church where she was involved in children's ministries. She often helped with vacation Bible school and served in junior quizzing for many years as a coach, quizmaster and finally as director of the whole quizzing program. She loved the quizzers deeply and always emphasized the importance of learning God's word over winning.
She loved animals, especially dogs, and taught dog obedience in 4-H for 25 years, serving for a number of years on the state committee. She also enjoyed working at Smith Veterinary Hospital for a number of years, which is owned by her sister and brother-in-law, Madge and Larry Smith.
Most recently, she worked for 16 years at A. T. Ferrell as a receptionist and sales assistant where she was highly valued for her efficiency and organizational skills.
She is survived by her mother of South Bend; her husband of Berne; four sons, Kendall (partner Savannah Jones) Beachey of Kansas City, Missouri; Timothy Beachey of Berne; Joseph (Katie) Beachey of South Bend; and Andrew Beachey of Fort Wayne; and two sisters, Madge (Larry) Smith of Berne; and Laura (Gary) Edwards of South Bend.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be Friday, October 23 from 4-8 p.m. at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchofer Chapel in Berne and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, October 24 at First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Linthicum. The service will be live streamed on Vimeo, accessible by following the link on the First Mennonite Church website. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne. For the safety of all involved, face masks will be required.
