Thomas Joyner

Thomas W. Joyner, 82, of Geneva passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020, at 5:30 a.m. at his home.  He was born Thursday, August 26, 1937, in Johnston County, North Carolina to James “JJ” and Sadie (Godwin) Joyner. He was married to Virginia Scott.
He served his country in the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson between 1955 and 1958. He was a former member of the Valeene Christian Church and the High St. Methodist Church in Geneva. After serving in the military, he was a truck driver for many years.
He is survived by his wife of Geneva; daughter, Sadie (Tim) Joyner of Lebanon; son, James (Cathy) Joyner of North Carolina; two step-sons, Chris (Ginger) Englehardt of Berne; and Dean (Nancy) Englehardt of Pennville; four step-daughters, Kathy (Steve) Conway of Pickerington, Ohio; Janet (Keith) Shauver of Portland; Karen (Keith) Harville of Hardinsburg; and Nancy Meier of Geneva; brother, Harris Joyner of California; six grandchildren, David, Alyssa (Rico), Israel, Brian, Eric and Haley; 11 step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two step-sons, Dale and Scott Englehardt; and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will Friday, July 17 from 12-2:30 p.m. at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva with a funeral service following at 3 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Lampton. Burial will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant.
