Thelma M. Kongar

Thelma M. Kongar, 63, of Berne passed away at 2:36 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Jay County Hospital in Portland. She was born on Friday, November 7, 1952 in Portland to John George and Helen Juanita (Crawmer) Pyle.

She attended Bryant High School. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Geneva. She enjoyed working with flowers and loved her beloved dog, Max.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Lee (Heather) Kongar Jr. of Berne; and Todd Michael (Kristy) Kongar of Geneva; brother, Donald (Beverly) Salmon of Decatur; four sisters, Norma Smitley of Dunkirk; Jennifer Schisler, of Pennville; Roberta (Larry) Maloney of Linn Grove; and Diana Iliff; sister-in-law, Cindy (Pyle) Hirschy of Geneva; eight grandchildren, Trent, Taylor, Kaylea, Randall, Hunter, Chassidy, Trey, and Jayden; great-grandchild, Laila; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John D. Pyle; and three sisters, June Hough; Imogene Hart; and Maxine Davis.
Visitation will be four hours prior to the 8:00 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, July 20 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva.

Burial will be at Daugherty Cemetery in Bryant at a later date.
