Steven Brandt

Steven “Hoss” Edward Brandt, 64, of Willshire, Ohio passed away Monday, March 21, 2022, at Vancrest Health Center Care Center in Van Wert, Ohio. He was born August 3, 1957, in Decatur to Thomas E. and Dorothy J. (Rupert) Brandt. He was married December of 1988 to Tina L. Brown.
He was employed by Thunderbird Products Corp in Decatur, where he was a lead supervisor for installation of the engines into each boat. He was also a lifelong farmer and provided custom baling services for many area farmers for many years. Among his most loyal customers were Amish farmers in the area, and they greatly respected him for his honesty.
He was known as the best friend anyone could have. If he was your friend, there would be no better friend.  He would help or provide assistance to anyone in need. Honesty, integrity, caring, hard working and loyal were words that would describe characteristics that served as his measuring stick toward others. He was the best PawPaw that any grandchild could have. He was a fan of anything Ohio State and had the voice to back it up. He often got too excited and would wake up others in the house with his commentary.
He is survived by his son, Cody (Courtney) Brandt of Willshire, Ohio; daughter, Stephanee (James) Slaasted of Decatur; three sisters, Susan (Jim) Sexton of Tuscon, Arizona; Sandy (Ted) Bollenbacher of Rockford, Ohio; and Lisa (Monte) Everett of Decatur; brother, Larry (Jackie) Brandt of Willshire, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Raigan Brandt; Carter Brandt; Johnathon Brandt; Sabrina Slaasted; Eva Slaasted; Damien Slaasted; Remington Slaasted; and Kacelin Slaasted; and one great-grandson, Rhett Slaasted.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on September 28, 2010; brother, David Brandt in infancy; nephew, Joshua Brandt; and his wife’s parents, Robert “Brownie” and Wilma Louise Brown.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 24 from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, March 25 at Praise Point Church in Willshire, Ohio.
