Sharon Wheeler

Sharon K. Wheeler, 69, of Berne went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born November 20, 1950, in Adams County to Ira and Evas (Yoder) Lehman. She was married October 2, 1971, to Kelly J. Wheeler.
She was a faithful member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne, where she was a former member of the Praise Ensemble and a former children’s Sunday school teacher. She also served as a volunteer at Et Cetera Ecke in downtown Berne. She retired after 34 years as a first grade teacher at South Adams Elementary School. After retiring, she stayed active as a member of RATS, a group of retired teacher volunteers at South Adams. Above all, she cherished the moments and memories spent with her family and dear friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Harry) Wheeler Ellingwood of Crawfordsville; two sons, Matthew Wheeler of Berne; and Benjamin (Betty) Wheeler of Ord, Nebraska; sister, Bonnie (Lynn) Sprunger of Berne; brother, Terry (Louise) Lehman of Fishers; and two grandchildren, Allison Wheeler; and Carter Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on April 7, 2016.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 23 from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Friday, July 24 at First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Schwartz. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
