Saundra Minger

Saundra A. Minger, 75, of Berne passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born May 10, 1945, in Berne to Laurel and Virginia (Flueckiger) Mattax. She was married November 2, 1963, at First Missionary Church in Berne to Keith L. Minger.
She was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Adams Central High School. In her youth, she attended the Spring Hill Church. She was a longtime member of the First Missionary Church in Berne, where she was active in the music department as an organist, a member of the wind ensemble and the hand bell choir. She also sang in a ladies ensemble. She helped in the children’s department at First Missionary Church and helped with the Wednesday night Whirlybirds.
Before starting a family, she was employed at CTS in Berne. She started as a waitress and then managed the Palmer House for Gaylord Stucky. She and her husband were co-owners of Palmer House in Berne for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking vacations with them. She also enjoyed genealogy, sewing and spending time at Lake Webster.
She is survived by her husband of Berne; three daughters, Vikki Minger; Valerie (Chris) Thomas; and  Krista (Ryan) Mere, all of Berne; son, Kevin (Kelly) Minger of Berne; three sisters, Rita (John) Carroll of Decatur; and Linda (Keith) Keller; and Susie (Tony) Braun, both of Berne; and seven grandchildren, Lauren Mere; Carson Thomas; Kyle Minger; Averie Mere; Haylee Thomas; Kaleb Minger; and Kendall Minger.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 13 from 3-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Thursday, January 14 at First Missionary Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Rick Schwartz and Pastor Kris McPhearson. Burial will be at Spring Hill Backesto Cemetery.
