Rosanna Wanner

Rosanna “Rosie” Mae Wanner, 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her residence in Geneva. She was born on August 10, 1929 in Fort Wayne to Fenton and Mathilda (Felber) Sprunger. She was married on September 29, 1951 to Clarence E. Wanner.

She graduated from Monroe High School. She was a member of Decatur Wesleyan Church. She taught Sunday school for over 60 years. She and her husband owned and operated Central Market in Monroe for several years until a fire destroyed it. She then assisted her husband on the farm. She worked at Swiss Village and Dunbar and cleaned for many offices. She is well known for her homemade sugar cream pie, gardening, and her ornery personality. She lived her life for Christ and regularly prayed for others.

She is survived by her son, Terry Wanner of Geneva; daughter, Kathy Wanner of Fort Wayne; brother, Donald (Betty) Sprunger of Berne; three grandchildren, Jed (Sophia) Wanner; Ben (Jeni) Wanner; and Cami Wanner; and six great-grandchildren, Owen, Emerson, Jax, Preston, and Brylee Wanner; and Zaxxzus Burch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 12, 1968; two brothers, Virgil and Joseph Sprunger; sister, Christine Burch; and daughter-in-law, Dawn Wanner.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. celebration of life service on Monday, May 7 at West Missionary Church in Berne. Officiating will be Dr. Dan Willis and Pastor Keith Rupp. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
