Robert Sprunger

Robert “Bob” John Sprunger, 65, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Richmond. He was born April 4, 1956, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania to John F. and Romaine M. Sprunger. He was married to Linda Cummings.
He grew up in eastern Pennsylvania. He graduated from Taylor University. He served as a youth pastor at Calvary Mennonite Church in Washington, Illinois and then for many years at First Mennonite Church in Berne. He served as the director of the RAD discipleship training center in New Haven. He pastored Bethel Mennonite Church in Hydro, Oklahoma and served as a hospice chaplain in Oklahoma.
As a pastor, he was known for his passion to see everyone have an opportunity to chose and follow Jesus. As a youth leader for many years, his enthusiasm for life and love for the young people he served touched many lives.
He is survived by his wife of Winchester; two brothers, Tim (Suanne) Sprunger of Berne; and Tom (Kerrie) Sprunger of Montpelier, Ohio; six nieces and nephews, Andrew Sprunger of Frankfort, Germany; Nathan (Roshni) Sprunger of Clearwater, Florida; Lara (Mike) Collett of Berne; Katie (Kurt) Kline of Dominican Republic; Taylor Sprunger of Decatur; and Josiah Sprunger of Montpelier, Ohio; and Linda’s brother, three sisters and their spouses as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Friday, December 10 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. celebration of life service Saturday, December 11 at the First Mennonite Church sanctuary in Berne.
