Robert Garner

Robert A. Garner, 68, of Bluffton passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020, at 5:11 a.m. at his home. He was born December 30, 1951, in Richmond to Robert F. Garner and Dorothy (Lemaux) Skinner. He was married July 1, 1988, at Mount Carmel Church in Adams County to Elizabeth “Betty” Amstutz.
He was a 1970 graduate of Portland High School. After high school, he served in the United States Navy from 1971-1975 during the Vietnam War. He was the owner and operator of Skyview Satellite Systems in Berne and a member of the Berne American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of Bluffton; two daughters, Carla L. and Corrine R. Garner, both of Portland; son, Christopher M. Garner of Poneto; step-dad, Jack Skinner of Kendallville; step-brother, Donald (Mel) Skinner of Kendallville; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one niece; several nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jarad Garner; and brother, William Garner.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20 from 4-8 p.m. at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Phil Jellison. Burial will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery in rural Jay County.
Military rites will be conducted by the United States Navy.
