Rickey Swygart

Rickey L. Swygart, 76, of Geneva passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Van Wert Manor in Van Wert, Ohio. He was born Aug. 29, 1947, in Berne to Max and Wilda Mae (Wall) Swygart. He was married Nov. 26, 1977, to Rebecca “Ruth” Bauman.
He attended Parkway High School, worked at the Berne Hi-Way Hatchery and operated his own business, R&R Trash Removal. He was self-employed and was a jack of all trades who worked hard his whole life. He also loved to garden and tinker around. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife; six children, Rickey Shannon Swygart; and Anthony Shane Swygart, both of Scottsville, Kentucky; Shanti (Dan) Miller of Convoy, Ohio; Sunita Winchester; and Shane Swygart, both of Fort Wayne; and Shad Swygart of Geneva; four siblings, Ronnie Swygart; and Kuba Jean (Phil) Pollard, both of Berne; Randy (Janet) Swygart of Willshire, Ohio; and Roderick (Dee) Swygart of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren with two on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Reggie Swygart.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, July 20 from 3-4 p.m. at 1655 E. 350 S., Monroe followed by a memorial service from 4:00-4:30 p.m. with a time of sharing. Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post #43 immediately following the memorial service. After the Legion, a celebration of life fellowship time will conclude in the afternoon.
