Richard Noonan

Richard Noonan, 81, of Berne, Monroe Township, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born July 12, 1940, in Terre Haute to Paul A. and Violet J. (Johnson) Noonan. He was married Saturday, June 24, 1961, in Berne to Marie Lehman.
He was a graduate of Bluffton High School. He was an Adams County farmer and worked in construction for several local contractors, including Ernie Schwartz, Jim Moser and Kent V. Sprunger. He had worked at Wayne Paper Box in Fort Wayne, Berne Lumber and Dunbar Furniture in Berne. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, painting and doing jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of Mt. Hope Church, where he was one of the founders of Young at Heart Group. He also traveled with several work and witness teams to a variety of locations to assist with missions. He was a great storyteller and always willing and known for helping others.
He is survived by two sons, Ben (Lori) Noonan of Berne; and Denny (Joann) Noonan of Decatur; three daughters, Ann Noonan (Kevin) Frank of Liberty Center; Mary Noonan (Sam) Smith of Antwerp, Ohio; and Donna Noonan (Mark) Jones of Berne; brother, Ken Noonan of Killeen, Texas; sister, Martha Joan Noonan of Bluffton; two sister-in-law, Shirley Lehman of Berne; and Linda Lehman of Decatur; four brothers-in-law, Roy (Karen) Lehman; and Frank (Susie) Lehman, both of Berne; William (Becky) Lehman of Hillsdale; and Murl (Barb) Lehman of Gaffney, South Carolina; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on May 25, 2019; five brothers-in-law, Norman, Gerald, Joseph, Lynn and Milton Lehman; and four sisters-in-law, Nadine, Mary Alice and Maurine Lehman; and Lois Noonan.
Visitation will be Monday, December 27 from 1-8 p.m. at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. A memorial service will be Tuesday, December 28 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene, 5005E 500S, Berne. Officiating will be Pastor David Cox. Burial will be Tuesday, December 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Evangelical Church Cemetery in Berne.
