Richard D. Steiner

Richard D. “Rich” Steiner, 86, of Linn Grove passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 along the Wabash River. He was born on November 12, 1931 in Adams County to Ezra and Metta (Gilliom) Steiner. He was married on June 30, 1956 to Joyce E. Sudduth.

He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. He was retired from Meshberger Stone and Lica, Inc. in Linn Grove for 48½ years and was a veteran serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, doing yard work, riding his Helix motorcycle, drinking coffee with his friends, rooting for the IU Hoosiers and the Indiana Pacers, and caring for his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of Linn Grove; two daughters, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Manlove of Decatur; and Jacquelyn (Greg) Lengerich of Huntington; and two grandchildren, Collin and Brooke Lengerich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Roger and Claren Steiner.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, May 5 at First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Linthicum. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.

Military rites will be performed by the Berne Post #468.
