Rev. DeWayne L. Felber

Rev. DeWayne Lee Felber, 90, of Indianapolis passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was born on January 8, 1928 in Berne to Ervin and Helen Felber. He was married to Lena Nussbaum.

He was a 1946 graduate of Berne High School. Bob Jones University was very instrumental in his life traveling as a representative several summers, receiving his Bachelors Degree, an honorary doctorate of Divinity and serving on the Board of Directors until his passing. He and his wife served the Lord faithfully together until she passed away. He was the pastor of Burge Terrace Baptist Church beginning in 1959 when it was a very small congregation growing to a church of over 800 members when he retired in 1992. His ministry and outreach was global, and he served on multiple mission boards, traveling to many countries, serving and encouraging missionaries. He was faithful to God’s calling for over seven decades.

He is survived by his daughter, Mirriel (Greg) Candler of Saint Cloud, Minnesota; two sons, Rev. Mark (Caryn) Felber of Whiteland; and Rev. Michael (Cindy) Felber of Charleston, South Carolina; sister, Sherrill (Gene) Bradford; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Bill) Gardner; Jeffrey (Laura) Candler; Micah (Abby) Felber; Kara (Adam) Carroll; Andrew (Marisa) Felber; Zachary Felber; and Blake, Caleb, Caity, and Bryce Felber; and four great-grandchildren, Finn, Max, Beck, and Stella Gardner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 1999.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16 at Burge Terrace Baptist Church, 9345 Brookville Rd., Indianapolis. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16 at the church.
