Phyllis Hewitt

Phyllis Hewitt, 83, of Berne, formerly of New Boston, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 18, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born on April 10, 1934 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Charles and Verlia Mae (Hall) Clevenger. She was married to Jack Hewitt.

She was a long time member of New Boston Nazarene and Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, where she played the organ. She was a longtime hairdresser and loved quilting, cooking, and gardening. She was a resident at Swiss Village in Berne for the past three years.

She is survived by two sons, Keith (Mary Beth) Hewitt of Cincinnati; Ohio; and John (Gwen) Hewitt of Berne; brother, Jack (Barbara) Clevenger of Wheelersburg, Ohio; two sisters, Dorothy Tipton of Phoenix, Arizona; and Kay (Doug) Patton of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Diego) Zea of Cincinnati, Ohio; Andrew (Lillie) Hewitt of Charleston, South Carolina; Courtney (Austin) Givens of South Korea; and Abbey (Zach) Morgan of Berne; and two great-grandchildren, Luca and Chloe Zea.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Joe Clevenger; Charles Clevenger; and Paul Clevenger; and two sisters, Edith Hatton; and Ina Whitley.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, February 20 at D.W. Swick Nelson Funeral Home in New Boston, Ohio. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Heimbach. Burial will be at Sunset Gardens in Franklin Furnace, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union or Hospice of Southwest Ohio in Cincinnati.
