Paul G. Stimpson, Jr.
Paul G. Stimpson, Jr. passed away Feb. 1, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by family after a period of failing health. He was born Sep. 16, 1943, in Abington, Massachusetts to Paul G. and Ethel Stimpson, Sr. He was married to Nancy Daly for 32 years.
A 1961 graduate of Abington High School, he was a three-sport athlete that starred in football and basketball and captained the 1961 baseball team. He was voted an all-star in every level of baseball he ever played from Little League to S.E. Military League at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. He continued his love for sports by playing weekly pickup basketball until age 70. A veteran, he served as a medic in the Vietnam War.
After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked as an insurance agent for John Hancock Insurance for 28 years. Taking early retirement, he subsequently managed and worked in the convenience store business until his health prevented him from working. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife; son, Scott Stimpson of Whitman, Massachusetts; daughter, Kerri (Bill) Yetman of Plymouth, Massachusetts; two stepsons, Paul (Sheila) Fitzpatrick of Marshfield, Massachusetts; and Sean Fitzpatrick of Abington, Massachusetts; two brothers, Dick Stimpson of Decatur; and Tony Stimpson of Rockland, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Jenna Haskell; Jessica Stimpson; Joshua and Luke Fitzpatrick; Korena and Emma Yetman; and Ryan Fitzpatrick; and his beloved cat, Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams St., Abington, Massachusetts followed by military honors at 1 p.m. Burial was private.
