Norman D. McCollum

Norman D. McCollum, 76, of Geneva passed away at 3:51 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 due to a tree falling on his pick-up truck as he was traveling down West Line St. in Geneva. He was born on July 19, 1941 in Decatur to James and Lela Isca (Pace) McCollum. He was married on April 8, 1961 in Geneva to Carol Foreman.

He graduated from Geneva High School in 1959. He formerly worked for 39 years at Decatur Casting. He enjoyed fishing and tractors. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene in rural Berne and grew up in the Old Apple Church in Geneva. He will be deeply missed by his family.

He is survived by his son, Brian McCollum of Berne; daughter, Karla “Kim” (Steven) Reed of Linn Grove; grandson, Michael (significant other, Natasha Hurley) Lautzenheiser of Decatur; great-grandson, Mason Lautzenheiser; two step-grandsons, Caleb Holtrey of Bryan, Ohio; and Logan Holtrey of Decatur; three step-granddaughters, Ambelina Holtrey; Delilah Holtrey; and Anika Holtrey; and brother, Ronald McCollum of Geneva.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1977; and brother, Arthur McCollum.

Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, July 13 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Officiating was Pastor David Cox. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in rural Berne.
