Noah F. Schwartz, 84, of Monroe passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his residence. He was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Berne to Menno L. and Fannie R. (Schwartz) Schwartz. He was married Aug. 27, 1961 in Berne to Sovilla N. Wengerd.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish. He worked at Hitzer Stoves in Berne for 50 years in production.  He also operated a produce business comprised of 10 acres of strawberries. It was through this work that he became known as the “strawberry man.”
He is survived by his four sons, Menno N.S. Schwartz of Rome City; Marvin N.S. (Elizabeth) Schwartz; and Mark N.S. (Elizabeth M.) Schwartz, both of Monroe; and Walter N.S. (Amanda K.) Schwartz of Shipshewana; four daughters, Susann N.S. (Paul L.) Hilty of Shipshewana; Arlene N.S. (Crist A.) Schmidt of Mooreland; and Kristine N.S. (Reuben) Girod; and Marie N.S. (Emanuel E.) Girod, both of New Haven; daughter-in-law, Anna B. Schwartz of Mooreland; three brothers, Melvin F. (Rebecca) Schwartz; John F. Schwartz; and Walter F. (Miriam) Schwartz; five sisters, Barbara F. Schwartz; Irene F. Schwartz; Rosina F. (Sam) Girod; Lydiann F. (Joe) Schwartz; and Marie F. (Amos) Girod; 52 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on June 29, 2022; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth E. Schmidt; brother, Leroy L. (Josephine) Schwartz; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Schwartz; and two brothers-in-law, Sam G. Schwartz; and Enos G. Schwartz.
Visitation will be Friday, May 17 from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Noah F. Schwartz residence, 1111 W. 50 N. Monroe. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 19 at 9 a.m. at the residence. Officiating will be Bishop David Christner. Burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery in Monroe.
