Mildred L. Weimer

Mildred L. Weimer, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. She was born on February 25, 1926 in Ridgeville to Frank and Carrie Ozbun.

She graduated as valedictorian from Ridgeville High School in 1944 and attended Ball State University, graduating in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. She married Dale Weimer that same year and they moved to Albion. In 1966, she received her master’s degree, also from Ball State. She and her family moved to Berne in 1966. She taught home economics and business for many years in Albion and Berne.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Berne, the Adams County Retired Teachers Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution-Antoine Rivarre Chapter. Over the years, she enjoyed several hobbies and activities including sewing, crocheting, traveling, being with her family, going to garage sales, jigsaw puzzles, volunteering at Swiss Heritage Village, camping with the Sam’s RV Club, and the many activities at Swiss Village Retirement Home.    

She is survived by her daughter, Karen, of Davenport, Iowa; and three grandchildren, Dan Bennett (Cynthia Brandenburg) of Millersville, Maryland; Matt Bennett of Albion; and Jessica (Philip) Beaver of Noblesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Bruce Weimer; daughter, Bonnie Bennett; a sister; and two brothers.

Visitation was one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, November 24 at Swiss Village Retirement Home in Berne. Burial was at Sweet Cemetery in Noble County.
