Menno R. Schwartz

Menno R. Schwartz, 85, of LaGrange died at 2:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at his residence. He was born on December 1, 1932 in Monroe to John J. and Rosina (Schwartz) Schwartz. He was married on October 28, 1954 in Berne to Mary N. Wengerd.

He was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

He is survived by his wife of LaGrange; three daughters, Christine Wickey of LaGrange; Mary (William) Schwartz of Grabill; and Elizabeth (Joe) Schmidt of Carlisle, Kentucky; five sons, Johnny (Rebecca) Schwartz of Berne; Amos (Martha) Schwartz of Bryant; Samuel (Susan) Schwartz of Portland; David (Ida) Schwartz of Monroe; and Joseph (Lydiann) Schwartz of LaGrange; two daughters-in-law, Clara Weaver of Fredericksburg, Ohio; and Elizabeth (Benjamin) Schwartz of Macy; son-in-law, Melvin (Susie) Schwartz of Salem; sister, Anna Schwartz of Berne; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Schwartz and Wilma Schwartz, both of Monroe; 113 grandchildren; 188 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; one-step-great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rosie Schwartz; three sons, Noah, Menno, and Christian Schwartz; two sons-in-law, Ervin Wickey; and Roman Weaver; eight brothers, John, Joseph, Jacob, Noah, Samuel, Christian, Amos, and Daniel Schwartz; six sisters, Fannie, Catherine, Rosina, Barbara, Mary, and Lovina; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one-step-grandchild.

Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20 and all day Saturday, July 21 at the family residence, 2020W 150N, LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 22 at the Freeman Yoder residence, 2150W 150N, LaGrange. Officiating will be Bishop Amos Yoder and the home ministers. Burial will be at Mast Cemetery in LaGrange.
