Mary Wilkin

Mary “Jane” K. Wilkin, 97, formerly of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne. She was born March 3, 1924, in Plula, Pennsylvania to Rev. Robert P. and Anne Alverta (Meyers) Miller. She was married February 27, 1943 in Fort Wayne to Russell L. Wilkin, Sr.
She graduated from Geneva High School in 1942. She was a devoted farmer’s wife and homemaker, worked as a secretary for BMA for 25 years in Bluffton and owned and operated Kat’s Tanning Salon. She was a member of Bethel Brethren Church in Berne.
She enjoyed playing Uno and Bingo, collecting antique cars with her husband, traveling, spending time with family and always having a positive attitude.
She is survived by her son, Russell (Mary) Wilkin, Jr. of Henderson, Nevada; brother; Carl Miller of Georgia; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren: caregiver-granddaughter, Joni Bertsch, Kaleb; Darin Bertsch, Shane (Stacey), Jonathan Janice Wilkin, Angela Chrisman, Mara (Josh) Myers, Majena (Mike) Cooper, Makayla Ringwalt, Tiffany (Chad) Wilkin, Brixley and Daxton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on January 22, 1981; daughter, Jan P. Bertsch; five brothers, Rev. Robert Miller; Rev. Ward Miller; Rev. Paul Miller; Howard Miller; and Wes Miller; and three sisters, Martha Lohnes; Laura Kreighbaum; and Marjorie Anne Miller.
Visitation will be held three hours prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, September 11 at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Nass. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.
