Marvin Zurcher


Marvin C. Zurcher, 81, of Celina, Ohio, formerly of Berne, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Celina Manor in Celina, Ohio. He was born on Saturday, April 16, 1938 in Adams County to Christian F. and Martha (Ebnit) Zurcher of Monroe. He was married in 1958 to Evelyn H. Griffiths.
He retired from Custom Quality Upholstery, a business he started and maintained. He had previously worked at Berne Furniture Inc. for 30 years where he was a supervisor. He had served in the Army National Guard as motor pool sergeant. He was also an author having written a fox trapping book and many newspaper and magazine articles about hunting whitetail deer and the black bear. He was a graduate of Adams Central High School. He had taken motel managers schooling and a Sunday school teachers course. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins and gardening.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gregory and Cary Zurcher; brother, Merlin Zurcher; two sisters, Evelyn Yohe; and Deloris Hirschy; four grandchildren, Cathy Vasil; Jennifer Bailey; Holly Suman; and Douglas Zurcher; four great-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Zurcher; and three sisters, Berniece Davidson; Iva Williams; and Irene Sullivan.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Friday, August 16 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
