Marilyn Schaadt

Marilyn Mae Schaadt, 79, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born on May 24, 1940 in Monroe to John and Evelyn Maxine (Bovine) Christener.
She attended Monroe United Methodist Church. She had worked for G.E. in Decatur then worked as an aviation board technician for G.E. Aircraft/BAE Systems for over 30 years.
She enjoyed traveling and going on mission trips to various countries. She was a woman of deep faith and was devoted to and loved her family above all, helping raise three generations. She enjoyed Adams Central football and was active in its Mothers Club for her sons and grandsons.
She is survived by two sons, Jon Scott Smith of Monroe; and Bruce (Trudi) Smith of Columbus; sister, Carolyn Kae (Marvin) Taylor of Monroe; five grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Eicher; Megan (Caleb) Shepherd; Dustin Girod; Tanner Smith; and Hannah Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Melanie, Mitchel and Maci Eicher; and Adler and Carver Shepherd.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dina Starr Girod on August 14, 1998; and a brother, Robert Christener.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, August 16 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, August 17 at Monroe United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Myers. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
