Larry L. Simon

Larry L. Simon, 78, of Berne, well-known businessman, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born on April 30, 1938 in Adams County to Victor and Emma (Rauch) Simon. He was married on October 11, 1959 to Gail Brewster.

He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne, where he operated the sound system for many years. He was a former employee of Berne Electric and in 1977 formed L&L Electric, a partnership with Les Augsburger. Later, he became sole owner of the company and specialized in industrial electrical work for over 38 years. The family spent many years enjoying activities on Dallas Lake. Upon retirement, the couple lived on Dallas Lake for 12 years and recently returned to Berne. He enjoyed fishing, following the UConn girls’ basketball team, racing his speed boat on his favorite lake, and following his grandchildren's sporting activities.

He is survived by his wife of Berne; son, Mitchel (Tracy) Simon of Berne; daughter, Victoria (Rex) Myers of Berne; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by is parents; and grandson, Adam Simon.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24 at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, February 25 at the First Mennonite Church Chapel in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry A. Flueckiger. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
