Kay Bohnke

Kay J. Bohnke, 83, of Decatur passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her children. This is also the anniversary death date of her mother 14 years ago. She was born October 18, 1937, in Blue Creek Township, Adams County to Gerald and Ruth (Schott) Edwards.
She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and more recently attended Salem Community Church. She was a graduate of Pleasant Mills High School and was a homemaker and previously worked as a nurse’s aide at Adams County Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by three daughters, Kaylehn (Larry) Brunner; and Rita (Jim) Hill, both of Decatur; and Arnita (Brian) Heyerly of Monroe; two sons, Eric (Melissa) Bohnke of Walkerton; and Mark (Alysse) Bohnke of Decatur; brother, Lee (Pauline) Edwards of Decatur; brother-in-law, Don Horner of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren, Chelsey (Alex) Traurig; Cody (Jessica) Brunner; Morgan (Jaron) Brodbeck; Monty Hill; Emma Heyerly; Blake Heyerly; Dustin (Ashley) Bohnke; Ashley (Nic) Nuno; Ruth Bohnke; Emma Bohnke; Tucker Bohnke; Brody Bohnke; Macy Bohnke; Sara (James) Stout; David (Jenna) Scott; and Ashley Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Willmott D. Bohnke in August 1994; and sister, Shirley Horner in December 2020.
Visitation will be Friday, July 23 from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service Saturday, July 24 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Compton. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Fuelling.
