Joyce A. Boukater

Joyce A. Boukater, 78, of Portland passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born on May 20, 1940 in Muncie to Joseph William and Olive Louise (New) Daughtery. She was married on August 21, 1981 to Herbert Boukater.

She was retired as a toolmaker for EPC in Geneva. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines in Celina and D.A.R. and was an accomplished pianist.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Rita) Brotherton of Portland; and Mark (Myra) Brotherton of Dunkirk; four daughters, Julie Furby; and Teresa Affolder, both of Winchester; Shelly (Christian) Lamb of Fort Worth, Texas; and Diana (Linn) Burkhart of Monroe; three sisters, Penny McClish of Fremont; and Mary Whitacre; and Karen Daugherty, both of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 28, 2013; and a son-in-law, David Furby.

Visitation was from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland followed by a private service. Officiating was Pastor Joe Hines. Burial was at Green Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Freeman Scout Cabin.
