Josephine Zeik

Josephine L. Zeik, 86, of Rockford, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020, at 2:15 a.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born September 11, 1933, in Adams County to Cloyd and Orfa (Coon) Nelson. She was married May 25, 1985, to love of her life, Frederick D. Zeik. Together, they shared over 34 years of memories. She has been a Rockford resident for over 30 years, coming from Berne.
A graduate of Geneva High School, she went on to retire as an executive secretary from Micro Precision. Prior to that, she worked in the office of Bixler Insurance. She was a longtime member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford, Ohio.
In her younger years, she could often be found on the links playing golf. While she never had children of her own, she loved and adored her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on January 14, 2020; two brothers, Wayne and Harold Nelson; and three sisters, Ruby Augsburger; Ruth Miller; and Mary Catherine Nelson.
Because of national health concerns, Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home and her family are following directives outlined by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
While family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service Friday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Ohio, those who are at most risk or those feeling sick are asked to remain home. Attendees are asked to observe social distancing and refrain from hugging, kissing, shaking hands and close contact. There will be a brief viewing graveside one hour prior to the service. A live webcast and video recording of her service will be viewable after 10:30 a.m. Friday at www.ketchamripley.com.
