John Sipe

John David Sipe, 70, of rural Monroe passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 5:30 a.m. at his home. He was born Friday, June 1, 1951, in Decatur to George W. and Esther E. (Felty) Sipe. He was married Saturday, June 21, 1980, in Berne to Jill Sue Fosnaugh.
He was a 1969 graduate of Adams Central High School and was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Berne. He was a very godly man with a servant’s heart who never met a stranger being a prayer warrior for the people he knew and didn’t know. His pride and joy was being the founder of Sipe Family Singers. He also sang bass for the Southern Gospel groups Work In Progress and Faithful Sons. Sipe was a lifetime dairy farmer and owned and operated John Sipe Trucking. He served on the Blue Creek Township Advisory Board, the Adams Central School Board for 24 years and was a member of the U.S.A.T.F. Master’s Pole Vaulting and High Jump. He formerly coached Adams Central girls softball, basketball, volleyball and track. He spent several decades showing dairy cows at the Indiana State Fair where he received Premier Showman and several other accolades. He was a pioneer in genetic breeding of jersey dairy cattle. He loved watching sports especially Komets hockey and the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his wife of Monroe; five daughters, Rebekah (Rod) Price of Van Wert, Ohio; Katie (Brian) Wiederholt of Fort Wayne; Jessica (Neil) Henning of Cedarville, Ohio; Elizabeth (Kevin) Vigneault of Delafield, Wisconsin; and Sarah Sipe of Durham, North Carolina; two brothers, Donald (Coretta) Sipe of Berne; and Carl (Linda) Sipe of Medina, Minnesota; sister, Marilyn Crane of Decatur; and 10 grandchildren, Sam Price; Libby Price; Kaleb Kraner; Abram Price; Baylor Price; Kenleigh Henning; Brielle Henning; Russell Vigneault; Emelia Vigneault; and Rosabelle Vigneault.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 4 from 1-8 p.m., and Friday, November 5 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, November 10 at Grace Bible Church, 6626 S. 150 W., Berne. Private burial will be at Backesto Cemetery in Adams County.
