Jerry A. Flueckiger

Jerry A. Flueckiger, 87, of Berne passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. He was born April 16, 1935, in Jackson, Michigan to Albert A. and Helen Mae (Bowman) Flueckiger. He was married in 1955 in Linn Grove to Carol “Kay” Bixler.
He served his country in the United States Naval Reserve for 12 years. He previously attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Berne. He retired from Franklin Electric Co. following 47½ years of service. He also did consulting work at other Franklin Electric plants.
He had knack for landscaping and enjoyed spending time outside. Later in life, he found joy in model trains and radio control planes. Following his diagnosis of dementia, he continued to build model trains and planes, and each afternoon, he would color in a meticulous manor.
He is survived by his wife of Berne; two sons, Denny D. (Diana Ford) Flueckiger of Geneva; and Ricky Allen (Reggie Roser) Flueckiger of Muncie; daughter, Jennifer Flueckiger of Geneva; sister, Patricia (Steven P.) Stucky of West Lafayette; two brothers-in-law, Marion Bixler of Fort Wayne; and Dailey Bixler of Churubusco; sister-in-law, Judy Sipe of Decatur; five grandchildren, Zachary Defries; Kayla Jenkins; Cole Defries; Melonie Oster; and Jerod Flueckiger; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Doug Sipe.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, November 22 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor David Cox. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
