Jerome W. Lehman

Jerome W. Lehman, 82, of Terre Haute passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1936 in Berne to Lewellyn and Florence (Graber) Lehman. He was married for 40 years to Barbara L. Swettenam.

He was owner of Motorola Service Stations (MSS) in Terre Haute, Bloomington, Vincennes and Evansville. He was a veteran of the United States Army. After retirement, he became interested in growing, hybridizing and sharing knowledge of persimmons and pawpaws. He was a member of Indiana Fruit and Nut Growers Association and Northern Nut Growers Association for many years. He was a member of the Canal Society of Indiana. He served as a volunteer photographer and member of Honey Creek Fire Department as well as being a board member. He was a supporter of the Berne CDC in recent years and was proud of his Berne heritage.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Charles Lehman; and Mark (AJ) Lehman; two daughters, Jennifer Lehman; and Cynthia Carnes; three sisters, Marilyn (Charles) Spurgeon; Norma (Ralph) Brandenburg; and Elaine (Garry) Mikesell; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was four hours prior to the 7:00 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, April 4 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel in Terre Haute. Officiating was Rev. Stephen Gladding. Visitation was also from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at West Missionary Church in Berne followed by a graveside service at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
