James All

James Daniel All, 34, passed away peacefully Friday, July 9, 2021, at 8:40 a.m. at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas. He had been diagnosed with myxoid liposarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer, in February of 2020 and bravely fought a 17-month long battle with the assistance of MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was born July 5, 1987, in Bluffton. He was married June 8, 2013, to Nikole Marie Sprunger, a 2006 graduate from South Adams,
He graduated from South Adams High School in 2006 and immediately joined the United States Air Force. He served in the military for 15 years and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. During his career, he was stationed at Nellis AFB in Nevada, Hurlburt Field AFB in Florida and most recently Dyess AFB in Texas.
As a kid, he was a 10-year 4-H member, with shooting as his favorite project. He loved playing baseball and was on the very first South Adams soccer team, lettering all four years. As a member of Cross Community Church in Berne, he was very active in the youth group as a teenager. He also enjoyed going to the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Show in Portland every year he possibly could. He recently began exhibiting model engines and became involved with the blacksmith area.
He loved his family, food and metal/woodworking. There was never something he couldn’t make, fix or rig up to do exactly what he wanted. His talents and creativity were truly beyond compare, and he shared his passion for his hobbies as he taught and influenced numerous others.
One of his most defining characteristics was his ability to stay positive while working to solve any problem that was thrown at him. To quote his father-in-law, Jeff Sprunger,
Jim All truly lived up to his name.
He gave "All" the love he could to his wife, family and friends.
He gave "All" he could (15 years as active-duty Air Force) to this Great Country.
He was willing to give "All" his body to research to save people he didn't know and would never meet.
Imagine what the world would be like if we were "All" like Jim.
He is survived by his parents, Kay All and Lee (Lori) All; his wife; and three younger siblings, Sherri (Jason) Hudson; Kristal All; and David (Lauren) All.
He was cremated per his request and will have two memorial trees and benches placed at the Portland Fairgrounds and Campground so he can always be there for his favorite event, the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Show.
His family would like to say thank you to everyone involved with his care and for the love and support you all have shown throughout this journey. Also thank you to Jim’s military family and the Honor Guard for a lovely celebration of life ceremony at Dyess last week.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24 followed by a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. at Cross Community Church in Berne.
