Jacob J. Christner

Jacob J. Christner, 67, of rural Berne passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017 at home. He was born on August 7, 1949 in Adams County to Levi S. and Josephine (Schwartz) Christner. He was married on September 12, 1968 to Mary A. Eicher.

He was a member of the Old Order Amish, and he was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife of rural Berne; four sons, Jacob (Margaret) Christner, Jr. of Carlisle, Kentucky; Levi (Lizzie) Christner; and Samuel (Elizabeth) Christner, both of Berne; and Amos (Alma) Christner of Canaan; seven daughters, Elizabeth (Emanuel) Schmidt  of Carlisle, Kentucky; Rosie (Enos) Schmidt of Monroe; Josephine (John) Girod of Berne; Emily (Mahlon) Yoder of Marysville, Kentucky; Rebecca (Enos) Schwartz of Salem; and Mary (Joe) Yoder; and Edith (Abe) Yoder, both of Geneva; two brothers, Samuel (Emma) Christner of Monroe; and Levi (Martha) Chistnerof Geneva; five sisters, Margaret (Toby) Wickey; and Elizabeth (Martin) Schwartz, both of Geneva; Fannie (Menno) Schwartz of Monroe; Rebecca (Jacob) Wickey of Decatur; and Barbara (Amos) Wickey of Bluffton; 102 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Levi Christner; daughter, Josephine Christner; and sister, Josephine Christner.

Visitation was from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10 and will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11 at the residence, 4831S 200 E, Berne. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12 at the residence. Officiating will be Bishop Dan A. Schwartz. Burial will be at Blue Creek Cemetery in rural Berne.
