Ida Hilty

Ida M. Hilty, 71, of rural Berne passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 3:22 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born Wednesday, January 4, 1950, in LaGrange County to Melvin and Fannie (Miller) Gingerich. She was married April 10, 1980, in LaGrange County to William E. Hilty.
She attended Topeka School and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She and her husband formerly owned and operated Hilty's Dry Good on US 27, north of Berne. After he passed away, she continued to operate the business. She was also the owner and operator of Kountry Quilt Cottage in Berne.
She is survived by her son, Philip I. (Carolyn) Hilty of New Haven; three grandchildren, Karissa Hilty; Karsten Hilty; and Willa Hilty; brother, Ezra Gingerich of Topeka; two sisters, Edna Schrock of Millersburg; and Lizzie Miller of Nappanee; brother, Jonas Gingerich of Wolf Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 2, 2018; daughter, Becky I. Hilty; and brother, Albert Gingerich.
Visitation will be Friday, November 5 from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, November 6 from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. at 2188 S. US 27, Berne. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 7 at 9 a.m. at the residence. Officiating will be Bishop Alvin Hilty. Burial will be at Schwartz Cemetery in Adams County.
