Gladys Ditto

Gladys Luanne (Davidson) Ditto, 85, of Torrance, California passed away October 30, 2020. She was born July 4, 1935, in Decatur to Edward Davidson and Gladys Francilia Eley. She was married December 20, 1953, to Joseph Ditto. They were married 31 years prior to divorcing in 1986
She grew up in Decatur and was a 1953 graduate of Decatur High School. She devoted her life to raising her children until they were grown. She then worked outside of the home for the city of Torrance. She loved the arts. She started playing the piano at an early age and continued to play both piano and organ throughout most of her life. She had a beautiful alto voice and sang in various choral groups. She enjoyed singing and traveling with the Torrance Chorale.
While performing with the Chorale, she met Warren Pietro. They were engaged to be married when Warren died in 2015. Her home was adorned with various paintings she created.
As a member of South Bay Community Church of the Brethren, she was a devoted member. Whenever the church doors opened, she was there. She held various positions in the church and enjoyed being Sunday school secretary, member of the choir, chorister and accompanying the adult and children choirs.
She is survived by two daughters, Angela Ditto Hostetler of Rancho Cucamonga, California; and Dawn Ditto Spinas, of Fort Collins, Colorado; two sons, Steven Ditto of Choctaw, Oklahoma; and David Ditto of Santa Cruz, California; seven grandchildren, Josih Hostetler; Kristin Harbert McKinnon; Aaron Hostetler; Jordan Ditto Lovelace; Drew Ditto; Janelle Spinas; and Jessie Ditto; and four great-grandchildren, Lilly Lovelace; Mackson McKinnon; Kiernan McKinnon; and Beniah Lovelace.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lionel Davidson; and Duane Davidson; and sister, Dorcas Davidson.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a small family committal service will be held Saturday, September 18 in Berne.
