Floyd Simon

Floyd N. Simon, 83, of Berne, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at Chalet Village Health Care Center in Berne.  He was born Thursday, October 8, 1936, in Berne to Frank and Alma (Stewart) Simon.  He married Dorothy Hart  Saturday, October 3, 1987 in Lake Arrowhead, California.
He attended Adams Central schools in Kirkland and the Bethel Brethren Church in Berne. He lived in California for many years and then moved back to Berne in 2004. He worked at Berne Furniture and he was a Schwan’s Ice Cream driver. He was self employed at Simons Carpet Care and he was a dry waller. He was an avid gardener and he made saddle figurines. He also drove for the Amish. During Swiss Days, his house was featured on the Garden Walk in 2008.
He is survived by his wife of Berne; son, Barry Simon of California; two daughters, Annette (Skip) LaMay of New York; and Betty (friend Daron) Forgacs of Ohio; stepson, Robert Randy (Denise) Lepine of Washington; stepdaughter, Jeanette (John Echeard) Lepine of California; brother, Roger Simon of California; three sisters, Louise Addington of Winchester; Jean Crandall of Berne; and Norma Whittenbarger of Decatur; grandchildren, Tyler Forgacs of Arizona; Steven (Gena) Simon; and Bryan (Jamie) Simon both of California, seven step-grandchildren, and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Marie Simon; sister-in-law, Lori Simon; son-in-law, Larry Forgacs; and brothers-in-law, Henry Addington, Robert Crandall and Larry Whittenbarger.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at the Bethel Brethren Church, 718 E. Main St, Berne with Pastor Joe Ness officiating.
