Evelyn J. Hart, 92, of Berne passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born August 2, 1929, in Berne to Menno S. and Mae B. (Stauffer) Sprunger.
She was a member of the former Monroe United Brethren Church. She worked at CTS and was also employed at Swiss Village in the housekeeping department.
She was known to be a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She loved supporting her grandchildren in all of the sporting events in which they were involved. She also enjoyed crocheting, working with flowers, playing games, singing old hymns and making cherry delight for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Gladys Mitchel of Bluffton; son, Gary (Beth) Hart of Decatur; five grandchildren, Luke (Meg) Mitchel of Zionsville; Andy (Michelle) Mitchel of Plainfield; Kristen (Stan) Myers of Marion; Kelli (Courtney) Willis of Littleton, Colorado; and Kim (Kris) Sipe of Decatur; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Weldon “Zip” Sprunger; Leland Sprunger; Loren Sprunger; and Paul Sprunger; and two sisters, Janice Hoffman; and Areta Bishop.
Visitation will be from 12-2:30 p.m. Monday, July 25 immediately followed by the funeral service at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur. Officiating will be Pastor Wes Kuntzman. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery.
