Ermal P. Amstutz

Ermal P. Amstutz, 87, of Berne passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Swiss Village in Berne, where she was a resident. She was born on January 7, 1930 to Ed and Viola (Lawrence) Hone. She was married to Sherman McCourt who preceded her in death in 1965 and later to Valier Amstutz who preceded her in death in 2006.

She was a member of the First Missionary Church in Berne and was an elementary teacher in the Fort Recovery Schools in Ohio for 31 years. She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles, and she especially loved her family and grandkids.

She is survived by two daughters, Betsy Gray; and Janell (Joe) Schwartz, both of Berne; two sons, Randy (Kendra) Amstutz; and Brice (Kelly) Amstutz, both of Berne; two sisters, Mary Boroff of Mercer, Ohio; and Barabara Thees of Celina, Ohio; brother, John Hone of Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Carl, Frank, and George Hone; and three sisters, Doris Snyder, Inez Goings, and Elaine Zizelman.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Monday, May 1 at First Missionary Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor James Schwartz. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery in rural Celina, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to the Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis or Family LifeCare in Berne.
