Erma Funk

Erma L. Funk, 88, of Decatur joyfully entered her heavenly home Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. She was born November 13, 1932, in Pleasant Mills to Frank D. and Peach (Davis) Fortney. She was married November 20, 1953, in Decatur to Kenneth Funk.
She graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in 1951 and later beauty college. She was a member of Decatur Church of God. She was a homemaker, but she also worked for several years at First State Bank in Decatur and later owned and operated The Village Beauty Salon in Pleasant Mills for 10 years.
Nothing was more important to her than her family. She treasured every hug, picture and note. She was also an avid gardener. She loved all flowers and could grow any flower or vegetable. Gaither gospel music, crafting, games and puzzles were her enjoyed pastimes. She was also an expert at fixing anything broken; she’d figure out a way or rig something. She was a loyal friend, supportive wife, devoted mom and a beloved grandma.
She is survived by her son, Daniel (Eileen) Funk of Decatur; two sisters, Rowena (Eldon) Miller of Portland; and Susie (Ronnie) Hill of Decatur; four granddaughters, Julie (Walter) Scase of Swayzee; Tiffany (Troy) Ross of Van Wert, Ohio; Lindsay (Steve) Bilimek of Tarakan, Indonesia; and Alyssa (Andrew) Harmon of Bluffton; and 16 great-grandchildren, Emily, Allisyn, Kaitlyn and Josiah Scase; Addison, Nicole, Grace, Caleb and Joel Ross; Janae, Tobin and Jessalyn Bilimek; and Slade, Meritt, Archer and River Harmon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and joins her husband of 68 years in Heaven. He preceded her by only four weeks.
Visitation will be three hours prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, April 21 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Officiating will be Pastor Kevin Abbott. Burial will be at Willshire Cemetery.
