Emma Jane Steiner

Emma “Jane” Steiner, 96, of Geneva passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center in Ossian. She was born on February 22, 1922 in Adams County to Sylvan and Mary (Lehman) Sprunger. She was married on April 16, 1943 to Willard Steiner.

She was a homemaker and an active member of the West Missionary Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent of the children's department, and Bible school teacher. She taught piano lessons for 45 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sending letters to her family. She loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.

She is survived by four daughters, Ann Steiner of Geneva; Vickie Bronner of Dallas, Texas; Cindy (Steve) Maller of Bluffton; and Lori (Jerry) Ashton of Fort Wayne; son, Bill (Janet) Steiner of Saukville, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Jerry and Ernest Sprunger; and two sisters, Josephine Myers; and Shirley Fruechte.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 24 at West Missionary Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Keith Rupp. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
