With 44 years of active service under her belt, she was revered for her tireless work ethic, as well as her unwavering compassion and skill in providing care to those in need.
Born on Sep. 13, 1936, in Adams County near Berne, she grew up in a rural community and attended local schools, graduating from Hartford Township High School in 1954. She possessed an insatiable thirst for knowledge and pursued higher education at Ball State University, where she earned a degree in nursing. This foundation not only equipped her with the necessary knowledge but also instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and dedication to serving others.
Throughout her long career, she showcased her versatility by seamlessly transitioning between various departments and hospitals. Her ability to adapt and excel in any setting was truly remarkable. Colleagues fondly remember her as not only a skilled professional but also as a spunky and feisty person.
Beyond her professional endeavors, she delighted in engaging in various crafts and found joy in expressing her creativity through these artistic outlets. Furthermore, her love for sports was evident to all who knew her. Basketball held a special place in her heart, and she even paid for the sports packages on the television. She also liked jigsaw puzzles and classic country music. Most of all, she loved to sing.
In addition to being passionate about her hobbies and interests, she was deeply rooted in faith. Recently, she found solace attending services at St. Anne's Episcopal Church. Her unshakable belief and spiritual strength served as a guiding light throughout her entire life.
