Elsie M. Affolder

Elsie M. Affolder, 96, of Berne passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 1, 1922 in Adams County to John J. and Eltie Rose Habegger. She was married on June 28, 1941 to Edwin “Jack” Affolder.

She was a faithful member of the West Missionary Church and was a prayer warrior. She was employed at The Winner House, Nussbaum Novelty, and later CTS Corp. She enjoyed reading, gardening, caring for her flowers, and traveling. She especially loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Ronda (Roy) Thornton of Berne; and Brenda (Max) Hawkins of Bluffton; daughter-in-law, Mary Affolder Raudenbush of Berne; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 9, 1933; her son, John on May 16, 1994; two sisters, Marjorie Daugherty; and twin sister, Edith Miller; two brothers, Ralph and Howard Habegger; grandson, Todd Affolder on July 12, 1993; and infant granddaughter, Sonnia Affolder.

Visitation will be three hours prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, March 20 at West Missionary Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Keith Rupp. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery in rural Berne.

Memorials may be made to Family LifeCare or West Missionary Church for persecuted Christian Jews in Israel.
