Edith Byerly

Edith C. Byerly, 82, of Decatur passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at her residence. She was born January 7, 1939, in Adams County to Noah and Melvina (Beer) Hirschy. She was married March 1, 1959, to Wayne Byerly.
She was an active member of Pleasant Dale Church, where she had been involved in leading music for the children and being a Sunday school teacher. She worked at Berco, G.E. in Decatur, Fleetwood and along with her husband were groundskeepers for the Adams County 4-H property for 17 years. She was also co-owner of Edie’s Antiques, was a lifetime farmer and drove an Amish bus, transporting students to and from Adams Central.
She is survived by her husband of Decatur; two sons, Brad (Susie) Byerly of Bluffton; and Brent (Shar) Byerly of Decatur; two daughters, Betty (Mark) Mitchel; and Becky (Mike) Burris, both of Decatur; two brothers, Paul (Barb) Hirschy of Huntington; and Richard (Inez) Hirschy of Monroe; two sisters, Carolyn Girod of Decatur; and Helen (Larry) Funk of Tempe, Arizona; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Florine Smith.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 14 from 4-7 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Friday, January 15 at Pleasant Dale Church. Officiating will be Pastor Jay Carter. Burial will be at Pleasant Dale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Dale Church building fund.
