Dwight L. Teeple

Dwight L. Teeple, 62, of Berne passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, May 3, 1956 in Wells County to Harvey and Edith (Moeschberger) Teeple. He was married on February 15, 1998 at St. John United Church of Christ to Lonnie (Erwin) Sweet.

He worked at Lehman Feed Mill for 46 years, starting at the age of 16. He was also a lifelong dairy farmer. He enjoyed reading the Bible, spending time with his family, watching westerns, coon hunting and loved his cows.

He was a member of the Emmaus Road Mennonite Fellowship, a former member of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Society for Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America), Wells County Coon Hunters Association, Holstein Association and other dairy organizations, an avid 4-H supporter and caretaker of the St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery. He was a former Sunday school teacher and deacon at St. John United Church of Christ. 

He is survived by his wife of Berne; son, Zachary Teeple of Berne; step-daughter, Bethany Sweet of Denver, Colorado; brother-in-law, Randall Bryan of Berne; sister-in-law, Tammy Patch Teeple of Berne; two brothers, Dale (Judy) Teeple of Bancroft, Michigan; and Dee (Becky) Teeple of Berne; two sisters, Beverly (Clarence) Zimmerman of Bluffton; and Janet (James) Dennison of Berne; and his father and mother-in-law, Gene and Sharon Erwin of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Bryan; brother, David Teeple; and nephew, Eric Zimmerman.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Peter Martin. Burial will be at St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery in Bluffton.

Memorials may be made to Emmaus Road Mennonite Fellowship or Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
