Daniel W. Bakle

Daniel W. Bakle, 80, of Defiance, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at CHP Hospice. He was born on April 22, 1938 in Defiance, Ohio to Vaughn and Otillia (Johanns) Bakle. He was married on October 24, 1964 to Janis Haines.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1964. He worked as a mechanic for Zachrich Trucking, Keller Trucking, Rath Builders, John Henry Kauser and Charles Kauser. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Elks, K of C, and Eagles of Paulding.

He is survived by his wife; son, Daniel (Jennifer Brakenwagen) Bakle; daughter, Jill Bakle; two grandchildren, Robert “RJ” Bakle; and Abigail “Gigi” Bakle; eight brothers, Carl Bakle; Vince (Nori) Bakle; John (Sandy) Bakle; Walter (Deb) Bakle; Larry (Joyce) Bakle; Gerard (Jean) Bakle; Lee (Karen) Bakle; and Glenn (Roni) Bakle; and four sisters, Cathy (Cal) Frank; Rita (Tom) Diaz; Margaret Romosser; and Julie (Jan) Shock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dave Bakle; sister-in-law, Doris Bakle; and brother-in-law, John Romosser.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 and from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Eric Mueller. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jackson Township, Paulding, Ohio.
