Daniel E. Koehler

Daniel E. Koehler, 60, of Berne passed away at 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born on Friday, January 10, 1958 in New Albany. He was married in 1988 in Berne to Susan Gutshall.

He was a 1976 graduate of South Adams High School. He formerly worked for Shinler Electric, CTS, had his own company Koehler Electric, Eagle Tool & Die, Haps, and the American Legion Post 468 in Berne. He was a member of the color guard team and the Sons of the American Legion at Post 468 for many years. He enjoyed hunting, photo finish racing, scratching his favorite lottery tickets (Wild Cherry), and especially spending time with his family and friends. He loved being a grandparent and was very active in attending his grandkids events.

He is survived by his wife of Berne; step-mother, Barbara (Zonker) Koehler of Monroe; son, Adam (Holly) Koehler of Cape Coral, Florida; three daughters, Nikki (fiancé, Tony Grunden) Koons; and Amie (Matt) Baumgartner, both of Berne; and Mandi (Zach) Eicher of Geneva; three brothers, Michael (Mark) Koehler of Orlando, Florida; Albert Irving Koehler of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and Steven (Beth) Koehler of Linn Grove; nine grandchildren, Korbyn Koons; Trinity Koons; Zeus Grunden; Rocco Koehler; Cooper Koehler; Zander Baumgartner; Zach Baumgartner; Colten Baumgartner; and Brentley Eicher, seven step-sisters; and one step-brother.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Edwin Koehler; and mother, Joanne Gifford.

Visitation will be six hours prior to the 6:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, May 8 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Hinshaw.
