Curtis E. Clemens

Curtis Eugene “Gene” Clemens, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. He was born in 1925 in Jasonville to Curtis D. and Elizabeth (Icey) Clemens.

In April 1943, before graduation from Bremen High School, he enlisted in the Naval Air Corp. He served on a salvage and firefighting unit in Manila. Discharged from service in 1946, he enrolled at Ball State University on the GI Bill. While attending college, he met Dorothy Watson. They were married in March 1950 and enjoyed more than 60 years together.

After graduation, he taught and coached in Indiana, completing his career in public education as a guidance counselor. During their retirement years, they enjoyed spending time with their grandsons and traveling. In the summer of 2008, they moved to Arizona to be closer to their daughter and son.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Warrick of Prescott, Arizona; son, James D. Clemens of Prescott, Arizona; two grandsons, Christopher and Tyler Clemens; and brother, Richard Clemens.

A celebration of life service will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30 at Las Fuentes, 1035 Scott Dr., Prescott, Arizona in the activities room. He will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Farmland at a later date following a graveside memorial.
