Curtis D. Nussbaum

Curtis D. Nussbaum, 86, of Monroe passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur. He was born on July 30, 1932 in Adams County to Henry and Rosella (Beer) Nussbaum. He was married on October 20, 1951 to Grace Wava Fisher.

He was a retired foreman of CTS in Berne and was a member of the Monroe Lions Club. He was an active member of St. Luke’s Church where he served as a deacon, elder and held many other positions. He was an avid sports fan. He especially loved watching his grandchildren play and his beloved Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife of Monroe; two daughters, Debra (Gary) Giessler; and Diann “Toby” (Ken) Neadstine, both of Monroe; three grandchildren, Kristopher (Rachel) Burkhart; Ashley Gaskill; and Austin Neadstine; one step-grandson, Tod Giessler; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Weldon Nussbaum; and sister, Corrine Lehman.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy and Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, May 20 at St. Luke Church. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Brown and Pastor Mike Wertenberger. 

Memorials may be made to St. Luke Church, Monroe Lions Club or Monroe Fire Department.
